How creators and moms earn
with Amazon baby recommendations

Amazon Associates is a referral programme that pays a commission when your audience purchases through your links. Here is how it works, what the realistic rates look like in the baby niche, and what compliance requires.

01

What Amazon Associates actually is

Amazon Associates is Amazon’s affiliate marketing programme. You apply, receive a unique associate ID, generate links for any Amazon product, and publish those links in your content. When a reader clicks your link and makes a qualifying purchase within a 24-hour cookie window, Amazon pays you a commission. The buyer pays nothing extra.

It is not a salary, a guaranteed income, or a partnership with Amazon. It is a referral fee for introductions that convert. Volume and audience trust determine earnings.

02

Commission rates — by category

Rates vary significantly by product category. Baby items span multiple categories. Rates change; verify current figures in your Associates dashboard.

How to start — and what compliance requires

Step 01

Apply for Amazon Associates

Apply at affiliate-program.amazon.com (US) or affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk (UK). You need an active content platform. Most applications are reviewed within 1–3 business days. You must generate at least three qualifying sales within 180 days or your account is closed.

Step 02

Generate links via SiteStripe

Once approved, Amazon’s SiteStripe toolbar appears on product pages. Use it to generate affiliate links for any product. Each link embeds your unique associate tag. Never modify affiliate links manually.

Step 03

Disclosures — this is not optional

The FTC (US) and ASA/CAP (UK) require clear disclosure whenever you use affiliate links. The standard statement — “As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases” — must appear prominently on any page containing affiliate links. Burying it in a footer does not meet the requirement.

Step 04

Track, measure, optimise

Your Associates dashboard shows clicks, conversion rate, and earnings by product and link. Focus on conversion rate per category, not total clicks. A smaller audience post in a 9% category often outperforms a high-traffic post in a 1% category.

04

Content formats that convert in the baby niche

Blog / SEO

Comparison and buying guides rank well and earn consistently through search. Long-term compound value.

Pinterest

Evergreen “baby registry checklist” pins drive steady long-tail traffic years after publishing.

YouTube

Honest product reviews with timestamped affiliate links in the description. High purchase intent.

TikTok

“Registry regrets and wins” formats generate high shares and link-in-bio traffic from new parents.

Instagram

Product-in-context photography and honest stories. Works best when recommendations feel personal.

Newsletter

A weekly baby deals digest builds a loyal, high-intent audience that actively looks for your picks.

Honest note on earnings

At 3% commission, a £200 stroller sale earns approximately £6. Meaningful income requires significant traffic volume or higher-commission categories. The baby niche rewards long-term trust-building over short-term promotional volume.
